Formerly known as the Global Pact Coalition, the Green Rights Coalition fights for a future where everyone has the right to live in a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.

The scale of the triple planetary crisis (climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss) is known to all. Today the situation keeps worsening: global temperatures are hitting new records, natural disasters are growing more frequent, species are disappearing, natural resources are being depleted, and air, soil, and water pollution keeps rising. The warning signs have never been louder.

Faced with this reality, the Green Rights Coalition believes it is time to recognize and defend a new generation of fundamental rights linked to environmental protection: our green rights. Recognizing these rights is essential to preserving our environment and our planet, but also a prerequisite for the survival, development, health, and well-being of present and future generations.

Our mission is to raise awareness of and promote these environmental rights — nationally, regionally, and internationally — among public authorities, businesses, and civil society.

More than 50 years after the Stockholm Declaration, legal protection for environmental rights and duties remains insufficient. That's why the Green Rights Coalition is calling on States to recognize and guarantee green rights by recognizing them in national constitutions and in a binding international treaty.
